Well, finding out that this place close really makes me sad and it was one of the best sushi places I've been in the northwest. All I can say is the City of Spokane you guys suck!

Come in now until Dec 16th 2023 when the owner retires! Since 1949 the Suki Yaki Inn has had the best Japanese food but that time is ending soon. Get in while you can, you won't regret it.

The food is so GOOD. Ambiance was cozy, they have tanuki seating, the kind where you take off your shoes and the table has a space for you feet below. Service was nice, very friendly owners and waitress. It's a place that is worth the wait. Sukiyaki, chicken teriyaki combo delicious. I would have ordered the tempura too, but we didn't have space. Sushi is also very tasty.

The first Japanese restaurant in Spokane! I wasn't expecting or planning to go out of my way to check out this place, but this restaurant is legit. The ambience is almost like another world. We picked the option where you can reserve a private room. The table is low but there is a hole in the ground where you can place your legs as you were regularly sitting. The music adds to the atmosphere; old Japanese enka's are played. And the food...the food is top notch for a good value. I paid $30 for beef curry, salad, miso, chicken karage, and green tea. As a connoisseur of Japanese food, this is legit. The curry had the perfect kind of spice. The miso was comforting. The Japanese salad dressing had a unique texture and was very creamy. The green tea was soothing and what I needed after a filling meal! Service was amazing! Our server was able to split our checks with no issue. She was super friendly! I highly recommend if you're in town - definitely make reservations for a private room!
